Sample Letter for Grade 1 & 2

Welcome to the Forest Green team.  Joe Blue and I will be your son's coaches this Fall for Sunday afternoon soccer.  The soccer season runs for 7 weeks, starting September 16th and ending November 4th (no game on Oct. 7th).  Our sessions are at Hardy Elementary School and run from 2:00pm to 3:30pm .  The first 45 minutes of the session is devoted to drills and skill enhancement and the second 45 minutes is comprised of a 3-versus-3 game against another boys team.  The primary focus is to teach the fundamentals of soccer and to let them have some fun playing the game.

I've attached a list of the players on the team as well as the pertinent family data so that you can all introduce yourselves to one another on the sidelines when the season begins.  There is a high likelihood of adding at least one more player to our team due to late sign-ups so this may not be the final roster.  Most importantly, I've established a cut-oranges schedule for the season so please note the date for which you will be responsible.  If the "oranges" family wants to bring popsicles for after the game, those are usually well-received as well.

While Wellesley Soccer provides the Forest Green t-shirt and a pair of soccer socks, I'd also highly recommend that you outfit your son with shin guards because there are plenty of missed kicks at this age.  Cleats are not required, but are helpful.  Thus, for every session, your son should bring the following :

Forest Green t-shirt

Shin guards under soccer socks

Water bottle

Size 3 soccer ball

If inclement weather threatens to close the fields during the season, please check the Wellesley Soccer website ( www.wellesleysoccer.org ) for updates if you have not received any communication from me.

If there is anything that you would like me to know about your son prior to the start of the season, please don't hesitate to contact me.
