Wellesley Memorial Day Tournament
Inclement Weather: In the case of inclement weather, every attempt will be made to play all scheduled games in the tournament. At the sole discretion of the tournament committee, some games may be cancelled due to the following weather conditions: 1. Rain in amounts that make the playing fields unsafe. 2. Lightning or other dangerous weather. In the case of a weather delay, the game schedule will be pushed back no more than 45 minutes before being cancelled. Assuming a lightning strike (which requires a 30-minute wait after the last visible strike), the following examples should be used as a guide to cancellations and game re-starts: 1st Lightning: End of Wait Period: Game Decision: Since this is a non-results oriented tournament per MYSA regulations, player and spectator safety is paramount to game scores. In case of lightning, we urge everyone to seek shelter in their cars as quickly as possible. The referees, Referee Coordinators and the Tournament Directors will determine whether play needs to be stopped and whether games need to be cancelled. Personal safety is the number one concern of the tournament committee and it supersedes any game situation.
