How do I become a Referee?

Classes to become a referee are offered at the Massachusetts State Referee Committee.  Click here to go directly to the massref.net “how to become a referee” page.

What is the age at which I can become a referee?

The minimum age to become a referee is 14.  Massref.net provides information explaining the process of becoming a referee and the age group requirements, as well as allows anyone interested to sign up for a certification class.

Where are classes held for referee certification?

Classes are offered in many towns surrounding Wellesley and sometimes in Wellesley.  Please visit www.massref.net for schedules.

Do I need to be certified in order to referee in Wellesley?

No, if you are not certified you are able to referee the 2nd and 3rd grade games. Wellesley Soccer Club uses only certified referees for travel games (4th grade and up).

How do I get referee assignments in Wellesley?

Will Wellesley Soccer pay for my referee training?

WUSC does reimburse referees for their initial certification, however, we do not reimburse our referees for re-certification fees. Click Here for more information.
